About the artisT

Chris Motito was born in Brooklyn,New York in 1973.

Largely a self taught artist, facinated with comic art and cartooning since childhood.

He completed his first portfolio at age 13 and was accepted into Fiorello La Guardia High School for the arts in Manhattan, New York.

At age 16 he left New York city by bus and crossed the nation to California. Struggling with depression and anxiety all his life, eventually Chris Motito was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, panic disorder and agoraphobia. Many years were spent in isolation learning to cope with this. Attempting to maintain a positive outlook, he continued creating art. Moving from the two dimensional art world into the three dimensional world of sculpture.

After some research,in 2010 he decided to try his hand at a new kind of pop art, custom action figures. He regularly posts at the Figure Realm website as customapprentice and has a Deviant Art gallery under custom777.  His work has been covered on the Marvel website "MarvelousNews.com" and the "blog for ROM fans who aren't dicks." One of his pieces is owned by former ROM writer, the legendary Bill Mantlo.

Chris Motito has since returned to Brooklyn,NY. Where he continues to create custom action figures and drawings. His current projects include producing his  first graphic novel, creating even more characters and custom action figures. As an artist, his goals are to create a new universe of original characters that will stimulate the imagination and engage the observer both mentally and visually. To create an overall body of work that includes action figures, digital and traditional art, and storytelling.
